Some non-academic trivia about me:

I like going to foreign countries. So far I have been to (in chronological order, excluding transits and Japan) Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Austria, Czech, Hungary, China, Thailand, Fiji, UK, USA, Latvia, Russia, Estonia, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, and Norway. I am particularly impressed by the cultral density and the beauty of Italy (especially Florence).

I like visiting museums. My favourite one to date is Musée d'Orsay because I like van Gogh and it had the most impressive collection of his paintings. I also like Renoir, Picasso, da Vinci, Manet, Klimt, Michelangelo, and Caravaggio. I loved walking through Hermitage, Tate Modern and Museu Picasso. The best exhibition I have been to is the unprecedented Leonardo da Vinci, Painter at the Court of Milan at the National Gallery, which gathered the most complete collection of da Vinci's paintings in the world (thanks to my friend Thomas Oechsle for getting me a very rare VIP ticket).

I like to cook well, eat well, and excercise well. I am always open to trying new recipes. My favourite cuisine so far is Russian. My long-term ambition is to master Persian recipes using loads of aubergine.

I am currently into Turkish way of making coffee, thanks to our family friend in St Petersburg.

I like my French sunglasses and French hat but not because they are French.

I have used my backpack on a daily-basis for about 10 years. But due to wear and tear, the bag is now only on display at home. I know I will never find another that means so much to me.
